and they lived happily ever after
Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 9:15AM so a few weeks ago i posted here about my friends' sam and ian one year anniversary gala (the four of us sitting in my makeshift dining room - very exclusive event). they were married on june 20th, 2009. i have known Sam since the day I was born, our mothers are best friends, I was the maid of honor. It felt only right to make something special and elaborate for their gift. I hadn't started learning to quilt at the time of their wedding but I had minor sewing skills (i made their ring pillow, seen here and here. you can also kind of see it on their bed below) and I knew I wanted to accomplish something ambitious.
cut to November 2009 and I took my quilting class. I got very into it and started researching projects I thought I could do. I found this wedding quilt on the purl bee. i loved it exactly how it was and didn't want to vary the colors much. i added a few columns and one row to suit a california king size bed (turns out they traded their california king for a queen size bed halfway through the process- minor panic attack but nothing serious), and got to work. i had Cranberry Quilt Works do the final touches, as i don't have a long arm quilting machine in my 1200 square foot apartment, natch. i am super proud of this quilt and can't believe it ever got finished. it was a HUGE project and I commend ANYONE who takes on such a task, or any task like this. it was worth all the work when i gave it to them and they loved it just as much as i loved making it.
see the pictures below!

yay for weddings and quilting!
