watermelon.

so basically i have a watermelon in my tummy.  the whole thing's been great (except for the sickness in the beginning and the discomfort towards the end) and i feel like i've been super lucky with this pregnancy.  granted i have nothing to compare it to, but we've both been healthy the whole time (except for that devil flu-respitory infection sick thing i got over xmas/new years), and i've been able to sleep and work and eat (and eat...and eat) and do stuff and be active (well, hail a cab and what not).  The last few weeks have been tough but bearable, and it's almost over (due in 10 days....crazy!), and we're pretty much ready and super excited/anxious/nervous/terrified/amazed that in like, 2 weeks, there will be OUR BABY in the house.  i sincerely have the best husband in the world, who has walked the dogs almost exclusively and changed the cat litter and polished silver and changed lightbulbs through this whole thing, all the while doing silly dances and making me feel like i'm not as big as a house, and never once getting fed up or frustrated with me.  i'm super super duper crazy lucky.  and he's super hot. and smart! booyah! our baby is gonna have one kick-ass pops! 

anyway, today, my dear lizzie came over to big mama's house and took some pictures of me + baby, and also some of the animals, and jamie (we can round the # of pics she took to an even 500 or so... insane!) so I can show my child that I wore something OTHER than sweatpants while she was in my tummy.  this is just one she sent me so far, and i will share more soon, including a few pics of the room *which isn't totally finished yet....*, but she's such a super beautiful photographer! i'm so lucky to have a friend who'll take the time out of her sunday to take some pics of my family.

our very good and lovely friends Darin and Juice just had the most gorgeous baby girl ever all the way over in Sydney, Australia.  see image below:

so i felt it was my civic duty as aunt-by-association to make her a lovely little quilt with a hand-sewn binding.  it was really fun to make and i am already starting on another for another close person who is with child. lets hope i get it done before mine pops out.  i'm so busy making quilts for other people's babies i haven't even started making one for mine!

i really want to make the most special and beautiful quilt ever for our baby, and i want it to be all SUPER BRIGHT pink Liberty of London fabrics.  being that liberty is $40 a yard tho, i need to wait til i have some post x-mas cash flow going.

 anyway. i forgot to take pictures so they were gracious enough, even in their newborn days/daze to take pictures so i can share with all of you.

the pattern comes from old faithful: the purl bee.  i found the pattern for their zig zag quilt and immediately wanted to make it- down to the main fabric choice - Alexander Henry's Zoo.  I dont know if they make it anymore but they have it in a different size.  anyway. that's all folks!

Good lord.

What a whirlwind week. A lot has gone on and I'm JUST finishing getting organized in this new house.  I'm still not up and running on the office front - am in the living room with a million degree laptop on my knees.... But in the meantime I want to brag about my super awesome husband.  His company, 4mm Games, is coming out with their rap karaoke game, Def Jam Rapstar on October 5th.  It is truly amazing and really is elite on every level.  It's not just a karaoke game, its so much more.  It spans over 20 years of hip hop and will have tons of downloadable content after you purchase the game.  There's voice recognition technology in the game so you HAVE to know what you're doing - you can't just hum your way through the game like stupid Singstar.  Honestly, it is super fun to play and I highly HIGHLY recommend it for sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, boyfriends, girlfriends... srsly anyone will have fun.  I'm not just hyping it cause its my husband - I would most likely talk about how badass it is anyway.  Anyway pre-order it on Amazon so you can give a super awesome present to someone you love for any reason.  Or buy it for yourself. It's rad.

hus to home

so on top of baby on the way, we are moving. which is GREAT. i love love loved living in our apartment, but all of a sudden it just felt SO SMALL and we just had to leave. There are so many things I will miss about this place. It is the first place that has had my heart.  Anyway, I realized I've never shown my place. I took some pictures for the listing, and while I am really not a great photographer, I think these will do just fine for now.  Either way, I wanted to show where I've lived for the past 3.5 years of my life.
